Andrew Guild changed careers and set up shop as a Web Master, starting Five Ace Designs.com in the autumn of 2002. Prior to that Andrew spent 14 years in Accounting and Human Resource roles with large companies including Canada Packers Inc., Maple Leaf Foods Inc., and Cold Metal Products Ltd. He gave up the certainty of the biweekly salary and steady hours of a middle-management position in favour of the challenge and reward of self employment and freelancing. But it wasn't a gamble. Andrew knew that with Five Aces, he had a winning hand.
Andrew is the third son of an urban, middle-class family. His father was a top-notch lithographer and colour-separator in the print media business; his mother was a professional graphic artist. Design, spacial-proportion, and colour-relationships have always been a part of Andrew's life.
Andrew studied Business Administration before joining the work-world. He quickly discovered an aptitude for spreadsheet development, and an interest in the advanced functions of Lotus 1-2-3 and Microsoft Excel, that fostered his deeper interest in computer applications, and programming. He has earned the Web Master designation through Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology, where his top grades earned him Honours recognition. In addition, Andrew also received recognition in the form of Web Scripting Specialist and Web Graphics Specialist certifications.
Andrew and his wife and children make their home in the heart of wine country, in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario, Canada.
